Problem with activating SSR 2013 for Small Business Server

I have a problem when trying to activate SSR 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2.

I get following error:

-Info 6C8F1C25: Cannot activate this product using license key >license key<. The license key is not valid.

Please enter the correct license key.
---Cannot install license.
----Error EC8F17C8: Invalid serial number: >license key<.

Is it possible that I got wrong license key? Shall I contact my local retailer?

The SERVER Version License can be installed on Windows Server Versions, Small Business Server and Desktop Operating Systems.

The SMALL BUSINESS SERVER (SBS) Version License can be installed on Windows Small Business Server and Desktop Operating Systems. It cannot be installed on a Windows Server Edition Machine.

Can you mail me directly via these forums with the license key. I will then check to confirm if it's a key for server or SBS edition.

Thanks for sending the license key to me, I can confirm the license is for SBS.

As mentioned above, you cannot install an SBS license on a non-SBS server. Do you have the wrong key? If so, please contact our licensing team who should be able to help.

Well, as I said - I bought it from a local retailer. He was sure it will work with WS2012, but apparently it doesn't. Is it possible to somehow upgrade it? I bought SBS version, not Server so I guess there isn't much to do, but to buy another version?

Either talk to the reseller\retailer or contact Symantec Licensing Team to get around the licensing issue.
