BE10d: How to tranfer licences to a new install

I am managing several old BackupExec servers, all of them  installed long before I started working here. Now I have to replace one of the servers because of hardware issues and nobody knows where license documents, keys etc. are kept.

1. Is it possible to extract this information from the old server and insert it into a newly installed one?
2. Can I solve this by backing up C:\Program Files\BackupExec and restoring it to the new server?
3. Is there another, more elegant solution?

If it's not too much trouble I would also like to keep the existing backup catalogs, but this is NOT critical.

Have a look in the C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINNT folder on your existing/old server

You should find a file called besernum.xml - this contains your licenses and can be used with the Import button on the license entry screen when you install Backup Exec or amend the config on the new server
