BE2010R3 - Showing Files Under Shadow Copy Components

I have a backup job that is created to backup certain folders on the C and D drive, the System State, and the Shadow Copy Components.  When I try to do a restore, I could not find anything under the C or D drives; however, the file I was looking for was under the Shadow Copy Components.  Why would the file be under there instead of the D drive itself?

Thanks in advance.

It seems you are taking backup of DFS data.  The only way to backup & restore DFS data is through

Shadow Copy Components.

Yes, that is true. So if that is the case, should I even bother backing up the C and D drives?  Technically the same folders.  Sounds like I might just be doubling my data.

You can only uncheck the DFS folders from the C & D drive.
