Dear All,

Kindly be informed that i need your help for the below...

- Upgrade Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 to Backup Exec 2010 R2

- Health Check of the Current infrastructure and backup strategy and propose required improvements according to best practices for (Exchange,SQL,domain controller and website).

- What is the best practices polices and backup type for the exchange , domain controller and website.

Hi there,

 

To expand on the 2 links you were given:

 

It is possible to do a direct upgrade to BE 2010 R2 from BE 12.5. Couple of things to look out for, so read up on my article below for a bit of insight.

The upgrade is straight-forward, but you obviously need your license keys, and you can simply follow the prompts. It is a case of following the wizard, which will detect your installation, and install to that same location.

That said, the simplest way for your client to do a "health check", is to make sure their backups run successfully.

However, you will also know that things look OK when you see the upgrade succeed, and the DB gets migrated!

Don't forget to update your media server with any available BE patches, and push these out to any remote servers!

any health check tool for backup exec 2010 or 12.5

There is no such health check but there is environmental check during installation or after installation you can run a repair on BE from add/remove programs...
