Backup Exec 12 locks up / freezes when "New Job" is selected

Backup Exec 12, all updates as of 5/28/09.
Windows Server 2008 Std

When I try to create a new backup selection list, or new job, the entire UI freezes and becomes "Not Responding." The server is a member of Active Directory 2008. It does not matter how I try to create a new job or selection list (menus, right click -> new, etc). I have checked event logs and the only thing that is shown is the windows error about the application hanging.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is it only when you attempt to create a new job or can you do anything in Backup Exec? Can you run an inventory for example?

Try running a repair of the Software within Add/Remove programs in Windows. You'll need the source installation media to carry this out.
