Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if Backup Exec 9 is still supported by Symantec?
My customer have Backup Exec 9 installed on their Server A.
Right now they wanted to reformat the server for other purpose, they wanted to reinstall Backup Exec 9 on that server(Windows Server 2003). I was wondering if there is any concern on that since they did not subscribe to any Essential support.

Please advice. Thanks

For v9.1, end of Life was January of 2007

But that just means that Symantec won't give you any support anymore, not that you cannot continue to run  that version

Thanks for the reply.

If Backup Exec 9.1 is already end of life. Does that means its have also reach its end of support?

Scenario : have backup exec 9.1 license
dont have backup exec essential support

Will i still be supported if there is any problem?

Or i need to upgrade it to the latest Backup exec 11d and essential support in order to get support for backup exec?

End of life means that now new cases will be opened for this product.  All the patches are still availble and the forums wil be here for a while

What about the current version (11d), what's the projected end of support date?

End-Of-Life for v11d is still  "To Be Determined"

v12 has been announced, but is not yet for sale, and support usually continues for at least a year after the new version has been released, so who knows?
