Hi,
I have BE 2012 on windows 2008 Std R2.
I am taking Hyper-V VM backup on to the tape(LTO5 tape library).
I have tried a job to cancel but it was taking too long time, showing job cancellation pending.
I need to restart the BE service...
The "beengine" service is in stopping state. I need to stop the "beengine.exe" from the taskmanager.
My question is why this is happaning. I used to work in BE 2010 there it was no such issue as this...
Or
Is there any thing I am missing or something...
Any idea...

Hi,
Nope, this has been in BE for a couple of versions. It's nothing new to BE 2012. The reason for this is that BE is waiting for something to complete before releasing the process.
You can go into Task Manager and kill the service there. I've had this in BE 2010 R1, 12.5 and 11d.

...absolutely NO idea
Somewhere along the line, a process gets locked while you're waiting for the BE services to stop...it's been around forever.
Killing the process manually gets it right again!

Yes I agree..that the killing the BE service stops the cancellation process...
But need to know why it takes long...

Yes...ask Symantec to fix this issue. Otherwise let the cancellation run till it completes, or cancel manually.
