Command line creation of SDR disk image

We are doing full backups of the server weekly and incremental backups between the full backups using BUE 2012..

1. It appears that the SDR disk we create is "tied" to the backup just completed and the related .DR files created at the conclusion of that backup. Is this correct?

2. Given item 1 is correct, it would appear that it would be prudent to recreate the SDR disk image at the conclusion of each "full" backup, in our case weekly. True?

3. Is there a way to run the SDR "wizard" from the command line in a post processing procedure at the end of our weekly full backup so that it "automatically" recreates the SDR image on another computer where the .DR files are stored (the alternate location)?

4. If so is that "batch file" of commands available from Symantec or some user that we could use as a template for our environment?

a) You don't need to create a custom SDR disk at all if the ISO downloaded from Symantec detects your network card and storage devices without needing a change in the drivers (The SDR disk is not like the IDR disk which had content specific to the operating system)

b) As long as your SDR disk boots and finds your hardware then you just need the .DR files on a USB stick or network accessible drive to perform an SDR operation you don't need to keep creating a new one (no matter whether you had a driver customized disk or the default one from Symantec)

c) I doubt there is a command line way to create the disk, but then you probably don't need it.

We created a "Custom SDR" image that carries our RAID drivers. I'm assuming that the configuration details of the system are in that SDR image, correct or no?

No.  The configuration details is in your backup sets which is in turn pointed to by the .dr file.

As previously advised, you can use the SDR bootable image as you get it.  You only update the SDR image to include drivers that you want.  Unless the drivers need updating, there is no need for you to update the SDR image.
