Hi all,
Our customer has a Windows 2008 R2 server with 2 local drives, C & D ( same HDD but different partition) and SAN drive E ( storing SQL and SAP data).
When we deselect E: drive or one of folders (e.g. e:\temp) in E: drive, SDR will turn off.
When we deselect entire D: drive, SDR still stays on.
Customer wants to exclude E: drive but SDR stays on and if there is any explanations on this behaviour.
Anyone can help? Backup Exec version 2014.
Regards,
Thomas

If the executable for a service that starts automtaically or on boot is installed on the e: drive then it will be marked as critical to SDR and the whole drive will then be required for an SDR backup.
There is a blog on how to disable a drive (do not disable C:)
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/exclude-files-simplified-disaster-recovery-sdr-backup-backup-exec-2012
Please be aware it will be down to you to ensure that items needed to get the server up and running in the event of a disaster are either backed up or you know how to re-install them at the end of the DR process.
