These errors can be caused due to multiple reasons.

1. What's the Backup Exec version you are currenntly using? - Please make sure it is fully patched with the latest updates.

Now on the Remote Server:

2. Check for Antivirus scanning.

3. Check in Windows Event Viewer if there are any errors recorded while the backup was active.

More specifically look for any VSS or Device related errors.

4. Check the list of VSS writers and available VSS providers.

Run -> Cmd -> VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS

(Check if all the writers are present, stable and without errors)

Run -> Cmd -> VSSADMIN LIST PROVIDERS

Based on the errors you have mentioned. On "servername2" right click on C:\ drive in Computer and choose "Configure Shadow Copies" or go to Properties and click on "Shadow Copies" tab.

Click on Settings and set the Maximum Size to "No Limit" and then try re-running the backup job.

5. The errors you have mentioned also points to be a possibility of the device causing these failures.

Try pointing the job to any other tape-based device (if available) or try targetting the job to a disk storage and verify the results to narrow down the cause.

Hope it helps.

Thanks!!
