Expired Backup Sets Not Deleting

I have several expired backup sets on my local disc deduplication storage.  However, they are not deleting because there are dependent backup sets.  These dependent backup sets are on old tapes (somehow their expiration got set to 2063) which are no longer in use.  Can I delete these backup sets manually or expire the dependent backup sets so they will delete automatically?

Well you can retire and delete the old tapes and then check to see if the dependency has gone, if it has you should then be able to expire the deduplication sets again. However if that does not work you will need to log a formal support case.

Check your Storage Device properties "Limit Backup Exec to read-only operation" if it is set to yes change it to no, I had this problem. It took me a while to find it. I thought I had a bad back up disk.
