Failed Backups of Windows 2008 VMWare Sessions

I'm wondering if anybody here has run into a similar situation with backing up Windows 2008 virtual sessions.  We use BackupExec's 'Agent for VMWare Virtual Infrastructure' to push VCB backups to tape.  This method works fine for ~1500 WIN2000/WIN2003 virtual servers running in our environment.

We've recently started deploying WIN2008R2 sessions.  Backups of these sessions fail with the ubiquitous "Error: Failed to open the disk: NBD_ERR_GENERIC".  I suspect the issue occurs when creating a quiesced snapshot - backups are successful when the sessions are powered off.

Has anyone seen this behavior before?  Any ideas of how to get around this issue?

Comments/suggestions appreciated.

Rex

Environment: BackupExec 12.5, VMWare vSphere 4.1

Agree with PKH  - also 2008R2 was only tested in 12.5 against the latest hotfix and Remote Agent backups ONLY as such we won't have done any certification/validation of protecting 2008R2 in our VMWare agent for 12.5
