How to backup VMware virtual machine templates

Hi,

Is there any way to backup Vmware templates with Backupexec and VMware agent?
When you click on a template you got a message saying "Not selectable for backup. This item is only displayed to enable browsing"

We are running BackupExec 12.5

We have a workaround on this issue. We can use angent for linux to backup vm template. VCB setup will no longer be needed.Media server will directly communcate on the esx server to backup .jsp or .vm Extension for vm template. hope this help you.

thanks,

Thats not the first thing you wanna do, to install the agent on the ESX.
Gilbert08, you have running for a while with agent, how has it worked out for you. Is it stable and so on?

Hi out there,
Is there any recommended way to do this through VCB, do you have to script it?

Thanks
Magnus

Sorry, I haven´t updated this one.

Our workaround on this one is to convert the VM template in vSphere to a virtual machine and then run Vm backup from backupexec. And after backup convert it back to a template.
