Overlapping Jobs

I had a job last night that was running late and overlapped the same job that was scheduled.  The job was in a queued state when I looked at it, but it never ran and did not give any feed back.  Is this by design or did something else happen?

Have you checked the Time Window and check "No later than certain time"?

I do have that set, but it is set for 23hrs 59min, and the original backup finished about 5 hours after the second was scheduled to start.
