Hi All,

I'm having problem with backing up large file backup into single LTO-3 tape drive ?

it is said "The job failed with the following error: The Backup Exec job engine system service is not responding." is there any explanation why it failed ?

This is happens in the BE Media server which has single LTO-4 tape drive.

When do you get this error?? Is is immediately when the job starts or somewhere in the middle of the backup job.

If it is immediately when the job starts then check that the service is up and running before starting the job

If it is in the middle of the job then check the Alerts. You may find many Alert about Media Insert. If this is the case then your first tape is getting Full and backup job is simply waiting for another tape to be provided. If the next tape is not provided for a long time then its obvious that the Backup Exec Job Engine service crashes as there is no reponse for the request that it has generated.

try to check as below. this error mean service job engine stop.

1. check user account, password on backup job is correct.

2. check media tape is available for backup and try to power off and power on Tape drive also.

3. restart all backup exec service.

4. Test backup another job if it pass may be there is some problem on that job.

5. check config on problem job what if device is correct.

6. restart machine.

actually it works after the "restart all backup exec service." i don't know why it is happening and what might cause it to fail like this !
