Transfer Installation to new server

I have a Backup Exec for Windows Server 9.0 installation and need to move the configuration (jobs and catalogs) to a new server. The current server is running Windows 2000 SP4, the server we are moving the installation to is Windows Server 2003 SP1. The new server will also have a different name from the current server.

It would be great to be able to transfer the whole configuration, but if all we can get are the catalog files, that will be good enough, because I can recreate the jobs.

Once the transfer is finished, I will be upgrading to Backup Exec 11d. If there is a way to just install 11d first and be able to move or transfer the catalogs/jobs/configuration from the old 9.x server to the new 11d server with out first having to install 9.x on the new server and upgrading that would be preferable.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The only supported way to move an install to a new machine specifically says it cannot be used if the two machines are running different OSs

To copy/move catalogs to a new v9.1 server see  http://support.veritas.com/docs/256300   Be sure to note #7

To migrate v9.x config to a v11 server see http://support.veritas.com/docs/286729

On the new server I would not need to install Backup Exec 9.0 at all in order to migrate from 9.x to 11, is this correct?

How would this migration process handle the catalog file move? Will I need to follow the other tech note on moving catalog files first and then perform the migration?

If you want to try migrating your config, you could always install BE9.x  in Demo mode, then import the BEDB.BAK file then up grade to v11 with serials

To migrate just the Catalog files, you should not need to install v9, just copy the U01 files and follow the second Tech Note
