Hi All,

I would like to know is it mandatory to publish EV server to enable outlook anywhere?

I tried to enable outlook anywhere but i got an "couldn't process the selected item , Reason : The web server is available but is not configured correctly for Enterprise Vault".

The Desktop Policy configured to use proxy, and the proxy Url is empty.
OWA is cofigured correctly and it is works successfully, now i need to enable outlook anywhere.
also i found that the Archive Explorer doesnt work becouse it use the internal EV server URL. and I think this is the same issue with outlook Anywhere

Exchange server 2010 and EV 10.0.

what is the required steps to enable outlook anywhere.

I found this tech note http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH48937 i tried it but it is not solved the issue also it is not cleared  what is environment configurations.

Thank you all in advance.

See this technote, there are couple technotes referenced you will need to work through:

Configuring Outlook Anywhere client access to Enterprise Vault

This section describes the configuration steps required to enable Outlook Anywhere client access to Enterprise Vault servers.

To configure Enterprise Vault in an Outlook Anywhere environment

  1. Check that prerequisite tasks on Exchange Servers and client computers are completed.

See Prerequisite tasks for configuring Outlook Anywhere access to Enterprise Vault.

  2. If you plan to use an Enterprise Vault proxy server, then prepare the proxy server and any Enterprise Vault servers that it contacts.

See Setting up an Enterprise Vault proxy server to manage connections from Outlook Anywhere clients.

  3. On an Enterprise Vault server, configure RPC over HTTP settings in the Exchange Desktop policy to enable and customize Enterprise Vault functionality in the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-Ins.

See Configuring RPC over HTTP settings in Enterprise Vault Exchange Desktop policy.

See About Outlook RPC over HTTP and Outlook Anywhere configurations

See Prerequisite tasks for configuring Outlook Anywhere access to Enterprise Vault

See Setting up an Enterprise Vault proxy server to manage connections from Outlook Anywhere clients

Also if you aren't planning to use EV outside of the network or VPN, set the connection type to be Direct, this is in the advanced settings under Outlook in the Desktop policy Normally companies will use outlook anywhere inside their company in order to use HTTP instead of RPC/DCOM and it needs those URL's configured, when this setting is cofigured it will just make HTTP calls by default but doesn't need any other configuration changes Usually you specify the http URL for the RPC over http when you want to access EV over the Internet and don't have direct access to your network

Thank you all,

i want to follow this atech note http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH61472 to enable outlook anywhere but we OWA is published through CISCO firewall and not through TMG, Is it support to publish EV through TMG even though OWA is published through CISCO. and regarding Public name "URL" which is webmail.ExternalDomainName.com/ ;

Is it should be the "webmail" or it could be another new public name like ev.domainname.com.
