Problem: Backup Exec failing to backup AuditDB or Partitions when backing up Enterprise Vault 10 server.
Error message “ The Media Server was unable to connect to remote server old.ev.server using protocol IPv4 on network interface core “ when trying to backup ev server
Environment: BackupExec 2010 R3 (fully patched as of 09-12-2011) on Windows 2008 R2 Server.
Background:
Recently completed migration of Enterprise Vault server from Windows 2003 r2 & Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 to Windows 2008 R2 & Enterprise Vault 10.0. Previous backups worked without any problems.
Backup job appears to be looking for the old server even though DNS alias redirects to new server.
Even though the backup job fails to backup the data it does not report the job as failed.
I have reinstalled the agent on the new EV server but this has not resolved the problem.
Manually backing up the server without using the EV agent works as far as the data is concerned but does not mark the data as backed up in enterprise vault which is not satisfactory.
