Event 3411 and 2216 after upgrading to v9.0.2

Hi all,

After upgrading our Vault env. to 9.0.2, event 3411 and 2216 reported during scheduled mailbox synchronization (leaved by default, twice a day).

Event 3411:

An error has been reported by ConfigureMsgService. It may be due to a problem contacting a Global Catalogue Server.

Exchange Server: xxx

Mailbox: SMTP:EnterpriseVaultSystemMailb@xxx.com

Error: 0x8007000e

(A7) queueing resulting from this process doesn’t decrease and impact background archiving. The only workaround is stopping/starting each archiving task. Once restarted, a7 queueing is processed and decrease.

Description of Vault env.:

- 1 Vault srv (OS: W2K3SP2). Vault v9.0.2 with Outlook 2007SP2 + KB 2475891

- 12 target Exchange 2003 servers

As we'll migrate to Exchange 2010 in september, the only prerequisite in place is upgrade of Outlook to 2007SP2 with hotfix.

Your forum talks about use of closest GC key but seems not resolving issue and not recommanded with Exchange 2010 (not yet in place in our env.)

Many tx for your feedback.

Kr

Did you actually set Closest GC?

If yes, double check your reg key for Closest GC, sometimes people forget the space. Make sure to be logged in as the Vault Service Account.

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type regedit.exe, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider

Note You may have to create the registry path.

  4. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
    Value name: Closest GC
    Data type: REG_DWORD
    Radix: Hexadecimal
    Value data: 0x00000001

Also Try using DS Server instead of Closest GC as I've seen better results with that in this kind of error
