File System Archiving of UNIX/LINUX files

Our idea for centralized archiving solution is:

-          to install centralized server – Windows based, with NFS server functionality

-          to integrate this centralized server with all other servers (Windows, Linux or UNIX), through presentation of CIFS/NFS network shares from centralized server

-          on request (weekly or monthly basis) to perform manual data relocation of un-structured data to be archived, from our server environment to network shares on centralized server

-          to perform regular, automated archiving of un-structured data from this centralized server using Enterprise Vault, File system archiving module.

-          if needed to remove “special attributes” from archiving files

-          to install Enterprise Vault environment with all necessary components including File System Archiving module

Can we use file system archiving through creating placeholders on archived data?

I have reviewed EV – FSA Compatibility matrix and there is no support for archiving un-structured data from other OS platforms, except Windows.

Please, verify if we can use EV FSA in this case.

Thanks,
Danail Popovski
