Restore from Exchange 2013

Hello all,

We're in the progress of moving mailboxes to Exchange 2013 from Exchange 2010.

The Exchange 2013 servers are not defined in Enterprise Vault.

A user whose mailbox is moved to 2013 is able to open shortcuts by doubleclicking, using the new search etc. However, when the user wants to restore an item from the search, that fails. After that fails, the item cannot be opened using the shortcut anymore either.

Does the new server need to be defined in EV, and does it require a task to exist for the retrieval to work?

From what I recall, to be able to restore, you do need the MSMQ R1/R2/Spool, but if you do not have a task, you do not have these queues, hence no restore possible. right?

Thanks.

GJ

You do need a task: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000037740

It is also possible to see this same error in a situation where there is no Mailbox Archiving Task associated with the user performing the restore. This can be seen, for instance, in environments where only Journal Archiving is implemented and no Mailbox Archiving Tasks exist; shopping basket restores will still request a mailbox to use for authentication to Exchange, and this error will be encountered when it turns out no Mailbox Archiving Task is associated with the user entered. To work around this, create a Mailbox Archiving Task to service the Exchange server that hosts the mailbox of the restoring user.

Thanks.
