Mounting LUN on netbackup appliance (5230)

Hello all

My customer would like to mount a NTFS LUN into the appliance, so he can backup from storage through san, without lan interpolation.

I couldn't find any reference that could acknowledge or disacknowledge that it is allowed\supported\not working at all.

Anyone has an idea if and how it can be done?

 

The appliance is 5230 Model.

The best way to do this (and remain in a supported configuration) would be to use Fibre Transport - enable FT on the appliance (has to use the correct fibre ports for connection) and then the client passes its data directly to the appliance via fibre.

Not exactly what you were looking for but it would give a supported method - I don't believe that mounting a NTFS volume via fibre and then backing it up would be supported - though that is in a way how VMware backups work i guess! (though not NTFS)

It may be best to raise a case with Symantec to get an offcial answer on this one.
