Hello every body,

I am working with Netbackup and BMR doing backups and restores. I havent found so much information about how to create backups and make restores using bmr.

Despite that i have done with windows and linux. I would like to share with you in the next session and when i have documented step by steps.

This time i have a question i would like to get an answer. how can I get backups from Redhat using ASM volumes.

1.Do I need to do any special configuration to do thad?

2.If I have a backup,  ASM volumes are the same as normal volumes/filesystems?

3. If I have a backup, can i do a bare metal restore as usual i have done?

Best regards

NetBackup is not aware of ASM.

You can take backup of Oracle DB by Oracle Agent(NetBackup for Oracle), but it is not possible to backup ASM volumes and its configurations.

Recovery steps for Oracle DB is as below:

  1. Recovery OS by BMR
  2. Reconfigure ASM from scratch with same DG name. Or recover ASM by any other way provided by Oracle(I'm not sure if this is possible).
  3. Restore Oracle from DB backups
