Backup Reports for NDMP Volumes

Hi All,

I have 6 NetApp filers being backed up via NetBackup server version 6.5.4 (Windows 2k3). Single Master/Media Server.
All the storage systems are backed up via NDMP on local devices connected to each one of them.
The Backup server is used only to back up NetApp filers nothing else.

During month end (FULL Backups) lot of backup jobs get queued in the Activity monitor as the filers have many volumes to be backed up.

I am looking to pull out the following reports related to Backups:

  • Backup Success/Failure
  • Status for jobs per storage system
  • Data backed up per storage system
  • Number of tapes used
  • Data backed up per file system
Is there any way to get such reports, will NOM help?
I tried VBR, however, it doesn't give such extensive reports on NDMP Volumes.

Is there any other way to generate such reports via scripts, if yes, what command can be used to pull out such data?

Yes you could create your scripts but that will not be very easy. You can start with "bpcatlist" to find images related to a NBU client, "bpdbjobs" to get the jobs status, "bpimagelist" to find the tapes written for a backup_id, etc.

as per: DOCUMENTATION: The command line equivalents for running the NetBackup reports available in the NetB...

As far as the number of tapes used/data backed up per storage system (i.e. client), there was a similar query last week , which was solved by quebek with the bpimagelist command.
