Changing root password in the NBU 7 master server .

Hi,

I have installed NBU 7.0 on Solaris 10(64bit)

I have provided the root user for authenticationand starting all services in the server.

Now, I wants to change the root password.

Is it possible, if yes how, without effecting the NBU.

I change the root password regularly (every 30 days) on my NBU Linux master while NetBackup is running - no issues to report.

If the system root password has expired but you want to keep the same password.

If Solaris supports it just use the chage command to set the last password date change to yesterday.

chage -l root to see your password policy for root.

chage root to modify details

I have tried in our test server it was through..

I can open the NBU console after changing the root password.

Hi ,

I have changed the root password in the production server(Solaris 10 ) and it worked successfully .

No impact on the NBU 7.0 master /Media server.

 In the Solaris I logged in as root and at the command prompt I used the "passwd" command and changed the root password.
