I am trying to create snapshots on a NetApp storage device using NBU 7.0.1
Not only create I want to manage the Snapshots using the Snapshot Management extension.
When I create a policy I have selected the following:
Policy Type - MS-Windows
Primary Storage - Selected a Disk pool that created (Not sure if I can use a tape based destination)
Unchecked Bare Metal Restore
Checked Perform SnapShots - Under options selected NAS_Snapshot
Select "Perform off-host backup"
- Use: "Data mover"
- Machine: "Network Attached Storage"
In the schedule tab I created a schedule with Snapshot only selected
In the clients tab I have mentioned the IP address of the NetApp filer
In backup selection I have mentioned the UNC Path (CIFS Path of the share on the NetApp box)
When I click OK I get the following error message:
Policy validation checks for the advanced client configuration failed
Advanced Client backups cannot be performed until configured correctly.
cannot connect to bpcd on <NAS IP Address>
Policy: <Policy Name> -- client: <NAS IP Address> --
Cannot communicate with client, snapshot validation is not possible.
This is the first time I am trying this.
Following are my questions:
As far as the Snapshot Management Policy is concerned it is used to make SnapShots of a volume and restore the volume using snapRestore.
What should be the policy type, should it be NDMP or MS-Windows
In hte backup selection (should it be /vol/<vol name> or \\IP\sharename of the NAS box.
I have already added the NetApp box in the device hosts.
