"File Read Failed (13) on Windows client" had be locked. I am starting a new thread with the same issue.
As per Marrianne I looked at the application log on the server ndu_shares and the result is attached. Can anybody help with this.

Will probably need the NB logs that Marianne also mentioned!
Along with other pertinent info such as NB versions & OS for master/media/client......

Backups are failing on Windows clients. The following error message will appear in the bpbkar log file on the client: "(TCP 10054: Connection reset by peer)" or "FTL - tar file write error (10054) ".

STATUS CODE 13: Backups fail with Status Code 13 "file read failed", indicating that a read of a file or socket has failed. Winsock errors 10054 and 10053 may also be seen in the bpbkar log on the client.

Status 13 can either be a File read error or a Network read error.
The first step in troubleshooting this error is to look at all text in Job details.
Please ALWAYS mension all relevant info in all new discussions:
NBU version and patch level on master, media server and client
OS details of problematic client
All text in Job details
Is this a new error? Did the same backup work previously?
Have you tried the suggestions in the Troubleshooter section in Job Details?

Check the Application log (on the client). Is there any errors relating to "faulting application name: bpbkar32.exe". If so, it may be related to the system VSS writers.
(Sorry, disregard... just looked at your attachment.)
There are a lot of posts/articles about what to do with the VSS writers for Windows, but I just run this batch file (attached below as a text file) and it usually fixes it.
Is this server part of a Windows cluster? There might be some "invalid service paths" that might cause this kind of failure. (Not likely with this specific error, but you never know...)

This is part of the cluster. I have 10 folders selected in 10 different policies all being u:\staffhome1, u:\staffhome2, u:\studenthome1, u:\studenthome2 etc. 6 of the foolders are being backed up and 4 are not. The policies are the exact same. All were working before.
master and media server are same NBU 7.5.0.6
file server is win 2008 r2 NBU client was 7.1.0.4 and upgraded to 7.5.0.6.
attached is the details log

Nothing obvious in job details (other that the 10054 error)....
We will need logs to troubleshoot:
On media server: bptm and bpbrm
On client: bpbkar
Please copy log files to .txt files (e.g. bpbkar.txt) and post as File attachments.
