Getting error code 800

Hi Team,

Recently I have changed Tapes

1.LTO5 3TB (labled XXXXL1)

2. we are using IBM-ULT3580 drives

3. Dell tl4000 hardware box

After changing tapes I have reciving error code 800. below is the job details and some times drive itself going down. Wheather my tapes support IBM-ULT3580 drives?

Nothing to do with media: Here is the error: "EMM status: The robotic library is not defined in EMM resource request failed (800)" Something wrong with device config. Another error is with tape load of a LTO1 tape. What model tape drive is is in robot 0 on inbmaster? If LTO3 or higher, the drives cannot write to LTO1. Show us device config on inbmaster: tpconfig -l

Are you sure that the tapes are LTO5 ? Normally they would have L5 as the last characters in the barcode.

Think you need to the check compatiblilty between the tape drives and the tapes.

Have you reconfigured the storage after changing tape drives ? (assume that is what you mean by changing tapes)

You cannot put LTO1 labels (L1) on LTO5 media. The robot sees the media as LTO1 and will not load the media in LTO5 drive.

Your tape drives does not seem to be configured as LTO5 which is  normally hcart2, but as either LTO1 or LTO4 as these normally shows up as hcart.

Besides that your tape drives need to be UP to be able to run backup.

Think you need to rescan the tapes drives in the OS and rerun Configure Storage Devices

Using the right type of labels will definity help - but we can't say if there are others configurations errors.

Storage Unit density types need to be checked as well.

How new is this installation - brand new ?. Did you use the device configuratrion wizard ?

Labeling L1 is worng for LTO5 tapes? we cant use LTO5 tapes with labeled with L1 at end. Since I have all barcodes printed with L1 at the end .

How configure tape drives? my LTO 5 tapes using hcart how to change to hcart2 for LTO5 tapes

You are trying to bypass a security feature.

If it works using LTO1 labels with LTO5 tape and drives, is down to the firmware in the robot. It may reject mounting "LTO1" (LTO1 labeld LTO5 media) tapes in a LTO5 drive because LTO1 not compatible with LTO5 drives.

Buying a new set of LTO5 labels does not cost much - Please consider this.

HCART, HCART2, HCART3 is not related to LTO revisions. It is just a marker e.g red tapes for red tape drives, yellow for yellow. HCART2 tapes for HCART2 tape drives

Yes.

Labeling L1 is wrong for LTO5 tapes.

This has nothing to do with NBU, but with physical hardware compatibility.

Only LTO4 and LTO5 media (L4 and L5 labels) can be written by LTO5 drives.

If you put L1 labels on LTO5 media, the robot will see the tapes as LTO1 media.

You can see the robot error message if you bypass NBU and use robtest to try and load one of these tapes in LTO5 tape drive.
