Hi everyone!
I would like to get some recommendations for my plan of hardware refresh and upgrade of the current NetBackup environment:
-Master and media server running on Solaris 10 SPARC
-NetBackup 6.0MP4
-Tape Library via SAN
The master server and tape library are going to be replace for new hardware. The OS will be Solaris 10 SPARC again and we want to upgrade NetBackup to the last version 7.1
The plan is to prepare the new hardware, install NetBackup 7.1 and migrate the NetBackup configuration recovering a hot backup of the old NetBackup catalog. Can be accomplish in this way?
A second plan can be... migrate to the new master server but to the same NetBackup version and then upgrade to NetBackup 7.1
Wich process is most viable?

Plan number 2 is supported. Hot catalog restore will only work with the exact same version of NBU (down to patch level) because of the EMM database version.
See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH77448 for details.
