Issue with Hot Catalog Backup in 6.5.2

Hi All,

we perform Hot Catalog Backups on a daily basis.

We have 5 tapes available for that purpose, they all reside in Volume Pool CatalogBackup.

After having made a Hot Catalog Backup, the tape is taken out and stored at an off-site location.

Another Catalogtape is collected at the off-site location and inserted in the library for next use.

The weird thing that often happens then is that instead of the catalog-tape, a tape from the scratch-pool is used.

Obviously, that is not what we want.

Has anyone an idea what may be the cause ?

when you put the 'old' catalog tape back into the library, does it 'land' in the CatalogBackup pool?

I have a hunch that our retention-period is too long (the tapes will sometimes be re-used before the retention has passed)

The image(s) on one tape have been expired and the media landed nicely in the CatalogBackup-volumepool.

I have changed the retention to 5 days.

Just wait and see, I'll keep you posted ....
