Hi
Do you know the possible reasons why after lunching setup.exe I have only a "remote installation"? The "local installation" is unavailable.
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 server (with MS SQL) and the client version at 7.5.0.5. I want to upgrade NetBackup to 7.5.0.6. I have a x64 installation package, I also have a local admin priviledges. The same situation is on many silimar servers.

Solved
This was not a UAC issue. I needed to uninstall NetBackup, delete registry entries and then install everything egain. New fresh installation 7.5.0.6 ended successfuly.

Is the software copied to the box or are you running it off a share ?
Did you right click and run as adminstrator ?
Disable UAC and try again.
Always remember to DISABLE UAC (User Access Control) while installing Netbackup Server or Client on any Windows 2008 R2 Machine
As its mentioned in Netbackup Windows Admin Guide:
Note: To install NetBackup on Windows 2008/Vista and
Windows 2008 R2/Windows 7 UAC-enabled environments,
you must log on as the official administrator. Users that are
assigned to the Administrators Group and are not the official
administrator cannot install NetBackup in UAC-enabled
environments. To allow users in the Administrators Group
to install NetBackup, disable UAC.
How to disable UAC ?
Click
1. Start
2.Control Panel
3.User Accounts
4.Change User Account Control Settings
5.Never Notify

Here is a really handy note to keep regarding a manual uninstall : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH87262
