NBU 7.x MSEO & KMS encryption

Cryptologists,

My customer has an LTO3 based legacy environment with MSEO. The new envoronment on order is based on LTO5 drives which do not support MSEO. When the legacy (LTO3 based) environment is obsolete they will have to be able to read/restore the legacy LTO3 tapes, the ones that are written using MSEO. They will be happy to have some LTO3 drives (along with LTO5s or in a separate library) in the new environemnt. My question is whether MSEO (for legacy drives) and KMS (for new drives) can co-exist in the same NetBackup domain? Can they co-exist on the same Media Server? Any caveats?

Many thanks!

MSEO and KMS are different components of Netbackup even though they both handle encryption.

MSEO perform encryption

KSM handle the encryption keys from tape drives supporting the T10 standard.

They should be able to co-exist.
