While doing LUN backup (NetApp) to tape we got error and backup unsuccessful (we did directly from SAN not on the host)
Error on backup master server:
Error ndmpagent(pid=1476) NDMP backup failed, path = (LUN path)
12/28/2010 5:54:45 PM - Error bptm(pid=7468) none of the NDMP backups for client (SAN device Name) completed successfully
12/28/2010 5:55:01 PM - end writing; write time: 00:00:25
NDMP backup failure(99)
Error on NetApp filer backup log:
ndmp Tue Dec 28 17:38:43 IST [uninitialized](0) Abort (0 MB)
ndmp Tue Dec 28 17:54:39 IST [uninitialized](0) Error (could not create "backup" snapshot : No space left on device.
Issue found: There is no sufficient free space available on LUN volume hence unable to create snapshot for backup (we were try backup the LUN fist time and the size of the LUN, 1tb)
Issue resolved after enhance the LUN Volume size as required
Hope this may be helpful to Forum….thanks

Im confused...is this a question or just a comment? Your backup failed because ontap couldnt create a snapshot for the backup, so one needs to modify the lun/vol settings so theres space for a snapshot?
I can believe it all.
