post titled "DOCUMENTATION AND DOWNLOAD: NetBackup Support Utility (NBSU) Usage and Examples for 6.x. NBSU was released with 6.5, 6.0 MP6, and 5.1 MP7, and replaces what is known as "nbsupport" in previous versions." which leads me to believe that you may not have it by default, depending on your NB version?

Honestly can't remember if I installed it myself or not!

***EDIT***

From one of the READMEs within the downloaded zip:

=============================
IV. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=============================
Save a copy of the existing nbsu binary before installing.

Place the correct platform binary of nbsu in the

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/support/

or

<NetBackup install path>\NetBackup\bin\support\

directory.

nbsu is self-documenting piece of software.  Once installed, run

# nbsu -H

to obtain a detailed set of nbsu instructions and usage examples.

So you just copy the appropriate binary from within the downloaded zip into the path.

DOCUMENTATION AND DOWNLOAD: NetBackup Support Utility (NBSU) 1.4 - Usage and Examples for 7.x and previous versions
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH139912

The man page for nbsu (we're running 6.5.6) stipulates the path as /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbsu, but ours actually appears to be installed in /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/support.

No, am not install netbackup, netbackup version 6 is install long time.

Basic check  no command nbsu in path usr/openv/netbackup/bin/ and no path /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/support.

If I will run command nbsu , i must have install NBSU right?

thank you.

It's straight forward:

  • Download the zip file.
  • Unzip.
  • Copy the nbsu binary from the appropriate directory (operating system) to required path.
  • Run with required options.
  • Sit back & wait!
