Restore from a new master server to a new client

Hi,

We have taken a backup from production envirionment and planning to restore it in a new environment (new master server and new client).

Q. 1) what is the best practice to achive this?

I have done both the phase 1 and phase 2 import of the catalog. Even after the catalog import am no able to view the images to restore.

Q.2) how can i restore after importing the catalog?

are u planning tape import or full catalog recovery?

If you imported the catalog tape to a new enviroment - then you can restore files from the catalog tape only.

If however you want to restore files for a different tape......

1) is this new enviroment a working enviroment - or are you trying to do a catalog recovery to this new envrioment - meaning are you trying to recreate your original backup master on this new server - if so you are going about it wrong.

2)if it is a working enviroment and you want to restore a different tape then you need to import that tape.

No am planning tape import only

If you want to restore a tape from a master server that did not make the tape, then you need to import the tape itself, not the catalog tape.

Once you have imported the actual tape you are good to restore.
