Storage and Archive Manager File System (SAMFS) backup with Netbackup

Hello House,

I have a SAMFS volume of about 5TB and managerment needs me to backup it to tape.

I have being having issues when trying with this backup for days now.

My question is below for honourable people of the house:

-Does Netbackup Supoort SAMFS volume backup to tape

-If it supports ,what is the best practice of backing it up because (df -h -F /volume_mountpoint shows samfs unlinke ufs,zfs).

Yous contributions is highly appreciated house please.

Unfortunately SAMFS is not listed...

NetBackup supports backing up file data on all POSIX compliant file systems. The table below represents the platform configurations that have been tested for compatibility with ACLs and other extended attributes. Unless otherwise noted in the table below, ACLs and other extended attributes are not supported.

Thanks a million Marianne for this  handy information.

Even if the SAMFS volume is mount remotely as nfs on another hosts ,netbackup will still not back it up since the either since it SAMFS volume originally.

I would look for any possibilty for this because management wants this data again on external strage tape media.May be I would consult Oracle the vendor

I thought that SAM-FS had its own built-in mechanism to move data to tape (not via NBU)?

I agree - best to contact Oracle...
