Veritas Netbackup 6.5 Hostname change

Dear Folks ,

I am having Solaris box acting as Media + Master server.

I want to change the hostname of the server. How to do that.

I do have some valid backups on tapes , but thats nt a issues. i can ignore them for restore purpose.

Can anybody suggest me how to change hostname of Solairs box that will take effect in Master + Media server also.

Everything within your current setup has the Master and Media Server name written into it - the biggest issue really being your EMM database.

You say you have some valid backups on tape but they are not an issue - does this mean that you are not bothered about anything you have backed up so far or would be happy to re-import it is required?

You have 2 choices i believe:

1. Uninstall everything, rename and start afresh - importing any tapes that you want to

2. Engage a Symantec Approved Specialist to perform Catalog Manipulation to allow all existing data in NetBackup to continue to function after it has been renamed
