This note explains why drives can be in a MIXED state (UP on some and DOWN on other media servers).

Hi,

Because the UP or DOWN is an indication of the state of the Tape drives for the specific media server. The status comes from the media servers. If one media server has lost connection, or has an issue with a drive, it reports it as DOWN (or having issues), but the other media servers might not have any problems connecting to it.

So assume it is the state of the drive as seen by the media server, not the state of the actual drive.
