done replacing MSDP drive with new one

i'm creating this new thread to make this subject clean. for history, this is the related thread.

we've decided to disregard the pending duplications on disk since they will expire in a few days. so here's what was done:

  • copied the directory structure and files from old LUN to new LUN one by one. why? because there is a data directory that size of 7TB that we don't want to copy across. in the end, only less than 200GB were copied. i used "rsync" for this purpose
  • once copying done, unmounted old 9TB LUN, mounted new 15TB LUN. take note! i used the same mount point name (in Windows talk, the same drive letter)
  • since NBU services are down while doing the above, i restarted NBU services. all looks fine, backup schedules are queued

tomorrow i shall see how the backup went.

please note, keeping the same directory structure, permissions, links, owners, groups is important. rsync helped in this regard.

also note, make sure if there any pending SLP jobs from the old LUN, to cancel them. YMMV.
