Hi Guys,
need some help on a rather old topic:
we have dead media server (has been removed by some unexperienced admin long time ago) which might prevent clean an update to NBU 6.x. (all servers are on windows and NBU5.1)
Fact:
NBCC finds media written by a media server which does not exist anymore and recommends to clean it up;
i am aware of kb article http://support.veritas.com/docs/230047
but i guess this only works on still "living" media servers.
So my question is:
does the decommission work even if the server is not available / pingable anymore?
if no does it work with an "fake" media server given the old name?
There is no old backup from the dead Media Server available anymore
Any hint resolving this is much appreciated.
thanks
DH

I had a media server shutdown before I was done removeing it.
I had to palce a call with support, we ran a vmglob command to get the media server out of the database.
But of couse that was AFTER I had moved all the media from the old server to the new on.
so to clean up the media first you really have to do the bpmedia -movedb frist.
