Netbackup does have a online agent for MySQL.

See : http://www.symantec.com/business/products/agents_options.jsp?pcid=pcat_storage&pvid=2_1

The NetBackup MySQL Agent provides centralized backup and recovery of multiple MySQL databases/servers across Linux, Solaris and Windows operating systems. Benefits include:
  • Schedule full, differential and incremental backups of MySQL database
  • Recover database easily to a required point in time or to any particular database event
  • Backup compression and encryption
  • Extensive monitoring and reporting

Hi Nicolai,

thanks for responding, but are you sure the option that they are talking about is not Zmanda option?

I don't see any software or documentation in the 7.1 kits that I downloaded, and also the db compatibility list http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH126904

is only talking about the Zmanda option.

Here was my blog entry announcing it, in case you missed it:
 https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/backing-dolphins

This is the only MySQL agent for NetBackup out there.  Well....the only one I know about, I should say.

As it hasn't been a month and I see no talk about it on the Zmanda forum, I can't tell you if anybody's running it - I LIKE to think EVERYBODY is running it AND have experienced zero problems, but that's probably not the most reasonable explanation for a lack of discussion.  ;)
