Unsure where to place this question. I’m looking for an opinion on a backup solution in a datacenter environment. We have many customers and are looking to offer backup storage for them. I was thinking of installing a storage pro raid type server and then backing these up to tape and then having them taken off-site. To offer the service the drives would be divided into say 60 GB partitions and customers would ftp data to their drives. Essentially we would just be offering disked space that gets send to tape. Is this a sound method? What am I overlooking? And are there any standards that must be adhered to when backing up web databases? Any opinions would be helpful as my background is in network and this is all quite new to me.
