Hi Guys,
I have a SUN 6500 with Storage Foundation standar license, this server is going to be migrated to a M8000. Can I use the same license on SUN M8000 ? or I need to pay for an upgrade or a new license?
Regards

Storage Foundation is tiered. Version 5 installation will check for platform to determine tier and valididy of license key for the platform.
Please speak to your Symantec Reseller - SF 6.0 has a new SPVU license utility. This way of licensing normally works out cheaper that 'Server Tier'.
You can find it here: https://sort.symantec.com/spvu_calc
You will see that the 6500 is Tier H, M8000 QUAD CORE SPARC64 VII is Tier K.

Depends on what type of license you have ... If you do not have a license bounded to hostid, the same license should work ...
can u paste # vxlicrep -e

Hi,
In the above output, whereever you have version 4.1 with license type permanent & CPU count "not restricted" ... I believe that would work smoothly ...
but on certain nodes above, you do have license of type
License Type = PERMANENT_NODE_LOCK OEM ID = 600 Node Lock Type = (Hostid and Architecture ID)
above license would be bounded to hostid & its node dependent ... so it will not work on other host ..
