Virtual IP in vcs

A basic question,

What is the role of defining virtual IP addresses in vcs.How to configure if OS is solaris 10.

Hi,

Virutal IPs for cluster itself (which is defined while installation of VCS) is used to connect WebUI of cluster management console. Once you are installing VCS & define the IP address & NIC, VCS will automatically plumb that IP address on the NIC you have given.

If your cluster is part of GCO, the WAC resource will use this IP to make a heartbeat with remote cluster.
