I first tried installing this on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 but, quickly found out this OS is not supported.  I rebuilt the server using Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard with SP2 (32 bit) and configured the system drive with 50GB of space which left about 40GB free after the Windows installation.  I then installed IIS with ASP.NET and updated Windows with IE8 and Silverlight 3.  I downloaded BESR_2010_9.0.0.35695_Management_Solution.zip and mounted the .iso and attempted to install it.  After it installed .Net 3.5 and SQLExpress it tries to extract and this is where it fails.  As a test I setup Windows Server 2003 Standard with SP1 using a full 160GB drive for the system and had the same results.  I also tried re-downloading this but it still fails.

Can anyone shed some light on this?  I have read something about installing SQLExpress first then installing BESR Management but that either didn't work for me or I missed something during the process as the explanation wasn't detailed in any way.

I get the exact same thing you get.  The AIM Logs folder it says it creates doesn't even exist.  It breaks before you even get to that point.  I tried manually running the SIP (SYMANTEC_INSTALL_PACKAGE.EXE) in the install package folder and it tells me I don't have permissions to do so.  Even though I am logged in as the local Administrator.  It appears that this package has some issues.

Anyone have any further ideas?

Thanks

Just RUN - BESR_DVD\INSTALL PACKAGE\SYMANTEC_INSTALL_PACKAGE.EXE     or    extract "SYMANTEC_INSTALL_PACKAGE.EXE" and then RUN

symantec_sim_7_0_kb47826_sp2.exe.

Then everything will go as intended....

That does not work. I called support and they acknowledged a problem with the download ISO, but promised it would be fixed in a new ISO download version - i downloaded that today, with absolutely the exact same symptoms. If any of you have found a solution to this since you posted last year, i'd LOVE to hear what it was!

Hi there ,

If you have downloaded a new ISO image , Did you tried to use a different a extracter other that the one you already have . Extract the files using a diff extracter & then try installation.

eg(Winrar , isomagic)
