I'm planing on upgrading a customer site from BackupExec 12 to 12.5. Is there any performance gain in upgrading from WIndows 2003 R2 x64 to Windows 2008 x64 in the same time? It's a dedicated BackupExec server doing backup to disk to tape (LTO4).

There are no performance gain with the same if u upgrade to 2008 64 bit, however i have seen many customers complaning that system state backup of 2008 64 bit works extremly slow apart from that there is no other issue or gain by upgrading the windows OS

Cool,

it is good to know that there is a solution for this kind of problem.

one question: Is it possible or beneficial to self backup the BE 12.5 server itself ?
