Hi,
We recently added a RAID array to our server, thus moved all the user data to that new array.
Before the change, Backup Exec was configured as follow: Source: C:\Data, Destination: E:\ (Removable disk drive)
We created a new logical disk on our new RAID Array, with drive letter E: (and changed the removable disk drive letter to F:). We moved our user data to the root of new logical drive E:, and we reconfigured Backup Exec with the following settings:
Source: E:\, Destination: F:\ (Removable disk drive)
This implies that we deleted the old backup-to-disk media with path E: and created a new backup-to-disk media with path F:.
This morning following the first backup with the new configuration, we just noticed that ALL of our user data was gone on the E: drive. Fortunately, Windows shadow copies saved us and we we're able to recover everything in a few seconds, but we are investigating as why this has happened.
Is it possivle that Backup Exec wiped out all the E: drive? Is it possible that by deleting the E: backup-to-disk in Backup Exec configuration led to wiping out all the data?
The data has been wiped out at the exact same time a bunch of Backup Exec event we're logged in the Event Viewer (see below). The data was wiped at 7:00 PM, our backup is scheduled to run at 8:00 PM. Database maintenance is scheduled at 4:00 AM.
What happened at 7:00 PM is beyond me...

Never mind, the brilliant previous IT team had written a script that erases the E:\ drive before the backup and put in the Windows Task Scheduler without telling anyone. Nothing to do with Backup Exec, sorry.
