Remote admin Backup Exec v 10, 11 and 12

We have a few backup servers here running Backup Exec.
7x Backup Exec 10.0 Rev. 5520
4x Backup Exec 11.0 Rev. 7170
1x Backup Exec 12.0 Rev. 1364

What's the best way to remote amdin this servers? Now we logon the te server to do the work and we want to change that...

With Veritas 12 console i can only connect to Veritas 11. Is there a all-in-one solution?

You can use the CASO (Central admin server option)

refer the following http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH43297

In a CASO environment all the managemedia server should be running the same version of backup exec .

So you cannot have a CASO installed on BE 12 and manage a server running BE 11d or 10 D .

We don't want to upgrade to 1 version. It's too expensicve to upgrade 11 servers to BE 12.

Yup So you need to Buy the CASO for each version of Backup exec you have ..and you can manage only the same version of Media server using the CASO option ..

Unfortunately there is not Other way .

Hi Forcie,

Check the article RahulG posted...you are able to install CASO for your versions, but if you're not prepared to go to 1 version (...and in this case I would rather move to BE 2010 R2 as it has much newer features and better support for new hardware/softeare capabilities etc!), you can install a CASO for each version.

That is going to be a cost though. No need for it on BE 12.0, as you only have 1 server! For your 10.x and 11d servers, you can look at converting 1 of the media servers to run as a CASO as well.

There is nothing available from Symantec that will manage all those versions in 1 central place...

Hi,

Any news here? If so, can you please close this off?

Thanks!
