Hi,
We had Enterprise Vault 7.5 SP5 before we upgraded to 8.0.5 version. We have Enterprise Vault and SQL on MSCS and Discovery Accelerator and UCE in one box and CA in another box.
Found we could not upgrade DA directly from 7.5 SP5 to 8.0.5 version hence had to reinstall DA uninstalling the old version. After that we are seeing evbadiscovery site not opening and getting "The website declined to show this webpage" and more info has "Most likely causes: This website requires you to log in." and "More information: This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage."
Please help what we are missing. All configuration are default and no changes done.

If you do not have any previous cases in you old version of DA or don't need them I would just start with a fresh install.

Did you restore your SQL database for DA?

We did only in-line upgrade from of EV 7.5 SP5 to 8.0.5, where archiving and journaling are working fine. Since DA, UCE and CA or on separate boxes we did not upgrade it immediately as we are not using UCE and CA and DA is used only during any incident.
All the EV related databases are in single instance. We haven't done any specific/individual changes to databases for upgrade purpose.
And while re-installing DA, even chose to use the existing database while configuring in evbaadmin site.
We are suspecting it to be something related to IIS. We came across one suspect where the configuration says that default content page for EVBADiscovery site should be login.aspx only and, we are not finding that file under the DiscoveryWeb folder. Could this be the culprit?

Found this URL http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&pmv=print&impressions=&viewlocale=&id=TE...
where the solution says that DA 8.x no longer uses the web interface to access customer home pages. Install the DA 8.0 client on a workstation and configure to access the DA server and customer.
Does it mean we cannot access http://DAserverhostname/evbadiscovery site?
Installed the DA client and tried to connect to evbadiscovery, getting error "The instance 'EVBADiscovery' is currently unavailable; an administrator must upgrade it before clients can connect."
We are not finding how to upgrade evbadiscovery anywhere, how can it be done. Please help.

Yes that is correct you have to use the client. I thought you meant you could not access the http://DAserverhostname/EVBAadmin page.
You need to access that page to upgrade the DA databases. It should be documented in the DAUpgradeInstructions_en.htm page.
I have attached the instructions here for you. Just remove the .txt extensions.

Because we had Enterprise Vault 7.5 with SP5 and upgrade path said we cannot go to ver 8.0.5 directly, we had to uninstall the existing DA and reinstall the version 8.0.5. After this if we are trying to upgrade now, we are not seeing it so happening, we mean that it is just saying as below;
Current Status
Version: |
7.5 revision 80 |
|
State: |
Upgrade |
|
Customer's tasks: |
Stopped |
Also we are not seeing any event log getting logged to confirm whether the process has started.
Also we are providing vault service account in "Administrator User or Group:" option while hitting upgrade button.
Tony, if we are lost with this upgradation, can we have all things related to DA created freshly, we mean even the DB (here its name is evdiscovery)? We haven't given search access to any user and DA is being used only by vault administrator. - Rgds, Guru.
