Enterprise Vault Error: The server does not have a valid license

I am currently evaluating Enterprise Vault. When I try to create a new "Volume" for one of the "Target" "File Servers" I get the following error (screenshot attached):

"The server does not have a valid license"

Since I am evaluating, I do not have a license for Enterprise Vault.

Your assistance is appreciated.

I did receive new 30-day trial keys from the link i did provide earlier:

(It took more than two weeks to receive them, but I believe/hope this has been fixed now.. ;) )

you're going to have to contact your Enterprise Vault sales rep and go through their channels to ensure you have the proper trial licenses that you should have access to

Thank you. I did contact them yesterday and gave them all my information. I am now waiting for someone to get back to me (two step process). Not sure who I should contact next. I was not given any confirmation.

You can request a call back or chat online and just express your frustration that its holding up testing and eventual purchase etc, are you dealing directly with symantec or a reseller such as DELL or CDW etc?

Normally i'd think the sales would be more responsive as a perspective buyer

Try to call them at 1800-745-6054 option 3. I believe they will send you the temporary license over the phone.

Thank you Mjahtetn. By calling that number I got a person who was genuinely interested in providing me with a trial. However they did not have access to the Enterprise Vault licenses. So they will try and contact licensing directly on my behalf and get back to me. I'm hopeful that I can get a trial license soon. Our testing and development is on hold. Our client is also surprised it takes so long and offered to give us their Symantec contact should we not get a response soon.

That is the link I used to download the trial, however there was no license key provided or emailed. Today I chatted with a Symantec Sales Rep and was told that "It looks like at this time we do not have trialware available on Enterprise Vault". Not sure why I wasn't told this before, after so many phone calls and being placed on hold. I was then told "My best advice would be going through your preferred reseller. This is an authorized product that Symantec does not sell directly." So why provide a trial link without a trial license?

Try contacting a partner of Symantec's for the trial licenses?

Look up www.bluesource.co.uk, they have offices in US, UK and Singapore so you should be able to speak to a person pretty quick.

Still no luck getting past this message. We ended up purchasing Enterprise Vault and received a .slf file. I installed Enterprise Vault on a brand new system and applied the file. I get the same error when I try to add a New Volume.

Have you got an FSA license, or just EV Base?

Also, make sure the license is applied to all your EV servers.

I believe it is just EV. How can I tell?

If you restart your EV Admin service there will be an Event in the application log that will tell what you are licensed for.

I was issued the wrong license. Once I received a new license I was able to get passed the problem. Thank you for all your help on this.

Resellers also provide temp licenses. In the future, for a list of resellers, we have this website http://partnerlocator.symantec.com/public/search/.
